I have always had a passion for art and music. I just never knew what to do with it. In fact, for a while I was a closet artist because I thought it was an embarrassing hobby. But now I truly believe we are called to use all of our gifts for the Lord. It is my desire to use my art and photography in any way I can to further His kingdom- Samantha Meyers
Mama Mia!
Potty training. It’s the latest gig in our household. So far we’ve had more accidents than actual successes, BUT it has distracted my kids from continuously taking their diapers off… and perhaps saving us money by getting them to wear “big girl” under garments! Can’t go wrong I guess.
Bribes, movies, books, the occasional forced hold while one of the twins goes to the bathroom… whatever works I guess. There’s been many times that I’ve had to grab a twin as she started to pee and throw her on the potty, rewarding her for unintentionally using it! Oh boy.
Well, it’s not that big of a deal really. It’s been a great lesson in patience and love, servant heartedness and I’m sure plenty of other things. Thankfully I get a break for this afternoon to go work at the Pregnancy Center and learn more about patience and love and servant-heartedness!
And speaking of the Pregnancy Center, it has been such an opportunity to tell women of all ages, and some not even quite women yet, how much the Lord loves them and how to walk in right relationship with Him. I’m amazed at how open we can be at our center about the gospel. I suppose once you start talking about people’s most private secrets, talking about God is no biggie. Nonetheless, it’s been good to be able to come along side of these women but I am still convinced that the ending of abortion doesn’t just start with abstinence, it begins with revival in the hearts of a generation who only knows sin. We can’t really expect a person to give up one sin while continuing their 400 others can we? Why should we just preach on the ending of sex before marriage and not the ending of gossip, and hate and violence and substance abuse, etc. etc. So my biggest prayer for my clients is that they would fall deeply in love with their Creator, Bridegroom and Holy God who formed them in their mother’s womb and has great plans and purposes for them… will you join in this prayer for these precious women?
And while your praying for them, pray that my kids get fully potty trained soon!

Break Blog!! ” Work for the Lord”
So, here I am in my stinky black work outfit with my short soy vanilla latte on my lunch break.
Do you ever find yourself asking, other than putting some food on the table why put my heart into what I am doing at work? Sometimes when vision is lacking it is easy to not put your whole heart into what you are doing.
The other day as I was at work I was making a drink and I made it just slightly wrong from what the customer asked and I figured, we were slammed busy and to remake this drink would throw my whole team off. So, as I handed the drink out and I looked that old grandma in her sweet wrinkled eyes, it was like slow motion. As my hand neared hers to pass the drink her bufont helmet of grey swirly hair and her nice cardigan, as she graciously received the drink my heart slew me with conviction. I knew that it was God reminding me that as a believer we are not to work as a man pleaser but as unto the lord. I stood there and thought to myself, FAIL! Would I have given God that drink? I mean let’s imagine Jesus came cruising in on his donkey to the Starbucks drive through and ordered an Eggnog Latte (because Jesus loves Christmas) and I made it wrong. But, I still looked him in the eyes and gave it to him, I couldn’t do that!
So from this gentle rebuke I realized that so much of growing in favor before God and man is how you are faithful in the secrete small things. If you feel like you are losing vision for what you are doing and you feel your excellence slipping, remember the exhortation to work as unto the Lord. Remember with every choice you make to line up with integrity is unlocking favor in the unseen realms! Break is over!!
Mama Mia!
As girls, the word poop is usually not one we use often, if at all. But when a girl becomes a woman, and a woman becomes a mom, it seems like the word “poop” is on top of the vocabulary list. In my case, sometimes it seems like the only word in my vocabulary.
The other day I walked into the girls room and they had removed their diapers and pooped in their cribs. Well, Cedar did anyways. I didn’t see Acacia’s until it was squished between my toes under her crib. *SIGH*
Jeremy seems to think that the funniest things I say start with: “Today the girls pooped… fill in the blank: on the carpet, in the tub, in their cribs, on a shelf in their room. And then selfless me gets to clean it up and take immediate disciplinary action.
Well, today was one of those days. I walked into their room and mounds of poop were waiting for me in the cribs… again. But I learned a lesson in the midst of it all. As I prepared myself to discipline my kids, with dread in my heart (who likes confrontation or discipline anyways?), I thought to myself about how God must dislike having to discipline us. Maybe that’s why He’s so merciful? I’m sure He doesn’t find great joy in having to lecture us, give us a proverbial spanking or ignore us while we sit and brood. How much more does He love to be with us, have fun with us, teach us things without having to discipline us. It just reminded me how much better it is to obey Him in the first place, so neither of us have to grieve the consequences. Hmm… interesting thought.
I’d better go check on the girls and make sure their diapers are still on…
