Well, here it is, my last Break Blog!!

So there I am at work in my green apron behind the register enthustiastically greeting each customer, giving them the speed and focus that they expect as they give me their unique drink order.

…”Hello, how are you today? What could I get started for you?” “Can I have an Iced venti nonfat halfcaf quadshot caramel machiato stired with light ice?” “Sure! anything else for you?”…

I quick ran over to mark the cup, we were right in the middle of the morning rush as I stepped on the seam of my pants and unwraveled the thread. This started an irreversable process of the seam of my pants coming undone on the outside seam of my right pant leg. First about 4 inches, then 8inches, then up to my knee, before I knew it as I was rushing to get coffees and getting pastries the entire right pant leg was ripped on the outer seam 3/4 the way up my white thigh! My coworkers were doubled over behind the espresso machine pointing and laughing at my misfortune. one sugested I staple my pants together. And so I did:

Keep in mind this actually happened at work! In public! I was running around with stapled pants on my second to last day!

HA HA HA! Some stories I will never forget. This has been an amazing season for me full of intimacy with God and a sweet hiddenness. A time where the Lord really spoke about my identity being in his word and love for me, and not in my ministry fruitfulness and image as a leader. I would sing to the Lord songs while at work, pray for my coworkers and dream about the future. This led to me being a bit distracted sometimes! But over all I did my best in my practical duties as well. I don’t have to many profound thoughts to really sum up this season other than I can say that God is so good and our sucess is not in our ministry titles but in our love for God. You could be the most obscure person on earth while being the most renowned in heaven. I am sure that is most often the case.

Keep blazing in Love for Jesus with where ever he calls you! There is profound intimacy to be had right in this season of your life! Right now! Thanks for following me on my starbucks journey! Now, its time for the next adventure: Fire and Fragrance Harrisburg…

Natalie and girls and I are about to embark on a vision casting tour before we land in Harrisburg PA Where we are going to be pioneering our Fire and Fragrance DTS with a team of about 15 staff!!

Here is our itinerary before we land in H-Burg: We will be speaking at churches, organising 24 prayer burns, Casting vision at dessert nights, and several long over due coffee dates!!

So the schedule:

We leave Kona May 12 and land in Oregon on the 13th (pray that our red-eye flight is successful with the twins…

May 28 we fly to Alaska

June 10 we leave Alaska and land in Toronto, Ontario on the 11th, until sometime in mid-July when we drive to Pennsylvania.

Besides that, things keep plowing in the direction of Harrisburg.  Jeremy’s last day of work is this Thursday and then he’ll be home free to focus entirely on the DTS.  That will be a relief for us both I think.  We also have a darling girl living with us who has been such a tremendous help with the babies… now I just need a maid… :0)

And now for a little change up, a new recipe to add to your collection!  My roommate Lucas and I had a great time coming up with a wonderful concoction of a vegetarian stew.  For you meat eaters, this will be very easy to add some tasty beef or chicken or anything else into it, so take advantage!  We made the whole thing up on the spot, so hopefully I can be fairly accurate in my rendition.  The joy of this recipe though, is you can change/add anything at any point and I’m sure it will be delicious.  Just keep it to fresh ingredients because that’s what makes it so good!

“No Place Like Home” Stew:

5 C Vegetarian broth (we made ours from scratch so message me if you want that recipe too)

5-10 small red potatoes quartered depending on how big or small you want it.

1/2 a yellow onion chopped

fresh garlic… as much as you want

2 1/2 large carrots chopped

2 celery ribs chopped

3 tbsp tomato paste

1 cup soaked black eyed peas ( or 1-2 cans depending on how much you want and you could use any beans/peas you want… it’s just filling and full of protein)

1 handful of sea salt and some fresh ground pepper

1 cup of quinoa (keen-wa) or rice if you can’t find quinoa

1) remember to soak your beans overnight if you are using dried ones

2) In a crockpot, put everything but the quinoa and cook for 2 hours.

3) At the two hour mark, add the quinoa and let it cook for another 2 hours.

*I cooked my stew in the crockpot for 4 hours, you could do it longer if you need to or you can even cook it on the stove, which will take less time and you will have to keep an eye on it.  Like I said, you can change any ingredient you want and add anything you want, including meat and you can sub. the veggie broth for chicken or beef broth.  Be creative and have fun!  Keep in mind that this meal takes quite a bit of prep with all the chopping, etc. so you may want to do the prep the night before while the beans are soaking.  Bon Appetit!

I have walked with Samie for the last year and a half and he is one of my close friends. I love his heart, I have seen his life and he has such a powerful future ahead of him! I have always had a passion for art and music. I just never knew what to do with it. In fact, for a while I was a closet artist because I thought it was an embarrassing hobby. But now I truly believe we are called to use all of our gifts for the Lord. It is my desire to use my art and photography in any way I can to further His kingdom- Samantha Meyers

Bribes, movies, books, the occasional forced hold while one of the twins goes to the bathroom… whatever works I guess.  There’s been many times that I’ve had to grab a twin as she started to pee and throw her on the potty, rewarding her for unintentionally using it!  Oh boy.

Well, it’s not that big of a deal really.  It’s been a great lesson in patience and love, servant heartedness and I’m sure plenty of other things.  Thankfully I get a break for this afternoon to go work at the Pregnancy Center and learn more about patience and love and servant-heartedness!

And speaking of the Pregnancy Center, it has been such an opportunity to tell women of all ages, and some not even quite women yet, how much the Lord loves them and how to walk in right relationship with Him.  I’m amazed at how open we can be at our center about the gospel.  I suppose once you start talking about people’s most private secrets, talking about God is no biggie.  Nonetheless, it’s been good to be able to come along side of these women but I am still convinced that the ending of abortion doesn’t just start with abstinence, it begins with revival in the hearts of a generation who only knows sin.  We can’t really expect a person to give up one sin while continuing their 400 others can we?  Why should we just preach on the ending of sex before marriage and not the ending of gossip, and hate and violence and substance abuse, etc. etc.  So my biggest prayer for my clients is that they would fall deeply in love with their Creator, Bridegroom and Holy God who formed them in their mother’s womb and has great plans and purposes for them… will you join in this prayer for these precious women?

And while your praying for them, pray that my kids get fully potty trained soon!
